About the Workshop

4TH INTERNATIONAL PROCESS SYSTEMS ENGINEERING WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT

4th International Process Systems Engineering Workshop, organized by the Istanbul Branch of the Chamber of Chemical Engineers, will be held between March 30 and April 1, 2026 at the Koç Üniversitesi Anadolu Medeniyetleri Araştırma Merkezi.

Bringing together nearly thirty distinguished experts from various countries and the world’s most prestigious universities, this workshop will be the largest event not only in Turkey but also in our region on topics such as process design, operation, and the enhancement of production processes through artificial intelligence.

Centered on the concept of the “Factory of the Future”, the workshop aims to combine the most up-to-date academic research in industrial chemistry and process engineering with scalable industrial applications. The workshop will address, from a multidisciplinary perspective, how artificial intelligence, data-driven optimization, and advanced process systems engineering (PSE) approaches can be integrated into real industrial problems.

Within the scope of the workshop, artificial intelligence and data-driven methods will be addressed under the following themes:

  • How the latest artificial intelligence and advanced optimization technologies can be utilized in product design, manufacturing, and process operations in line with efficiency, durability, and sustainability goals will be evaluated.
  • Innovations and best practice examples in process intensification, sustainable system design, and operational efficiency will be presented.
  • In this context, technical approaches that will contribute to the compliance process with current regulations such as the EU Green Deal, Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and Sustainability (ESG) requirements will be discussed.

The workshop will bring together leading academics and researchers from world-renowned institutions such as Princeton, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, Purdue, ETH Zurich, and Texas A&M. Participants will have the opportunity to evaluate the foundations of widely used industrial optimization algorithms and software (e.g., GAMS, ASPEN) through real-world case studies. Advanced techniques such as physics-informed neural networks, quantum computing-based logistics optimization, and symbolic regression will be discussed in terms of their impact on process design and operations.

The workshop is intended for ; R&D engineers, process, operations and maintenance managers, designers, digital transformation and data science teams, supply chain specialists, and sustainability and compliance officers working in industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy, coatings, petrochemicals, and manufacturing. Participants will gain the opportunity to benchmark their corporate approaches against global best practices, share experiences with peers, and build international networks.

As one of the first events organized in Turkey at this scope and scale, the workshop aims to provide access to global knowledge without incurring high travel costs and to deliver tangible gains aimed at increasing industrial competitiveness.

We invite academics, researchers, engineers, industry professionals, and all stakeholders to join us in shaping the future of process engineering.

We look forward to your participation in this workshop and will be honored to have you among us.

Respectfully,

Serkan Küçük

On behalf of the Workshop Organizing Committee,

Istanbul Branch of the Chamber of Chemical Engineers,
